Correct, my 2013 operates the injection pump on startup (10-30 seconds) and on shut down for 3-8 seconds.
I just sold my 2006 that I bought new 12 years ago. Which didn't have this injection pump with the same engine. I plan on going on longer trips and would rather not have a catastrophic engine code issue that's caused by an unnecessary add-on component. Just my opinion...

Yup, mine does too, but from what I understand, the design was changed to prevent from falling. But looks like others have failed. I even have the filter, but truck is under warranty yet, so I'm not messing with mine just yet.

Oh, that wouldn't set well with me either. I'm at 62k and clocking. Hope yours goes well on out. Wouldn't want to wish that on anyone.

I’m on the waiting list as well. Want to purchase the full delete ASAP!

I had a 2009 4runner without the air system and it was the most reliable engine I ever owned. Want to keep the 2015 Tacoma 4.0 as reliable as the 4runners engine.

@chmura I'm in the same boat. I hope Hewitt-tech can figure out a full delete. Sometimes I miss my 2006 Tacoma :(

They are working on it now. I think the control strategy has changed and the pump runs during start up on the later models. I’m sure they will get the delete released soon.

Subb'd. New to me 2014 1GR-FE could use a full SAI delete. Maybe I won't sell my 1st gen just yet.

Well, I just fired up the truck to drive this morning and about a half mile down the road right before I hopped on the freeway couldn't rev past 2000 rpm... what the hell. I peeked over and saw the CEL as usual lit up. Great, it's not a MAF code, what could it be? I scanned it and got a P2442 AIR injection system valve stuck Bank 2... awesomeee.... NOT.

Managed to clear the code and I got full functionality back. For now. While I was at work I removed both valves and cleaned them out. Bank 2 was absolutely disgusting and the seal for the valve was all melted like and full of moisture. Awesome. Bit the bullet and got a hewitt-tech Bypass kit to install.

Should be here Monday. Cleaning everything up may have bought me another week or two at best. I don't know.

Your system works differently from the 2012's. It is designed to run after the truck is shut off whereas 2012's are designed to run while the truck is turned on and running.

It only runs for about 10 seconds when you start the car. Should be easily defeated.

When is the delete coming for 2012+ Tacoma??

Yes it is and it has been defeated for 2012 only. 2013 and up are using a different strategy and are not so easily detestable without triggering the CEL.

I heard of some 13-15's failing recently. I didn't bypass yet, got the warranty replacement for now. It's on my list though.

Oh boy, that's not good! 2013 and up will have to give it some time. Toyota likes to keep a tight lid on their ECM's and the codes required to crack them in order to defeat things like emissions controls. Especially those. Either way failure is one thing, but limp mode is NOT cool at all and it is a bullshit design as a whole which should not be there in the first place.

I’ve been waiting patiently for a delete kit for my 2013. I would settle for a way to disable limp mode.
@12TRDTacoma how did you clear the code and cancel limp mode?
I was thinking of getting a basic scan tool at Harbor Freight. Would that work?

I pulled over while I had my handheld plug in scanner plugged in and after reading the code attempted to delete it with the truck running and upon doing that the code cleared immediately and limp mode went away luckily. I was able to drive normally until I got to work and was able to disassemble both valves to inspect and clean them out.

I personally would spend the money and get a little bit of a better scan tool than one you can get at harbor freight. I would get a code reader made by Creader (I think the model is called a "launch")which is capable of reading all modern day can equipped and previous gen ISO OBD 2 equippedv vehicles. Not only does it give you live data running info which for me when I have been away from he shop has been incredibly convenient and helpful but I have also been comfortable enough in knowing that it will erase any code I ever get without giving me issues afterwards.

Which model creader? I pulled up a couple on Amazon and they were only around $30. I'm sure you get what you pay for though and wasn't sure which price point includes all the nice options/capabilities.

I tried clearing my codes and it would only work for a few feet and then back in limp mode. My concern is being two hours up a trail and it happens again.

The X431 model. It's handy, compact, and gives you all the info you could want in real time.

Don't go wheeling then. You have a hard issue at the valves. It is highly likely your plunger seals are toast.

You can either bypass or drop major bank on new valves. The choice is a no brainer option for me.
