TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

I'm not following you here 100%. Two headers at 2.25" and two y-pipe tubes at 2.25" is not a bottleneck. Where it is a bottleneck is #1 at the header to y-pipe flange (necks down to 2" for gasket) and at the rear of the y-pipe in order for it to fit stock exhaust. I have opened my headers up at that flange to a true 2.25" and use

If you like the sound of your current exhaust then just be happy with it. 3" will most likely help but more so in the upper rpm range.

My DTSTs have three 1-5/8 primaries collecting to 2.25 so that seems like a big reduction as far as total volume right there at the collector.

Can't wait for the Ucon and CSF radiator. Trans temps topped out at 213 this weekend pulling a long up hill grade that had a stop at the bottom and got up to 35mph no problem. Engine temp was 207-211 all weekend, with or without the trailer. 97 ambient air temp. And I know I was in open loop a ton! The Ucon is going to help so much. Oh and we had lots of mosquitoes, horseflies, dragon flies, butterflies and cows at camp. But the Gin and Tonic's were great

 

Keep in mind your primaries are only flowing exhaust through one tube at a time and have 240 degrees of crankshaft rotation for separation. Exhaust pulses alternate sides at 120 degrees crankshaft rotation for our engines. Because of this, the 2.25" collector and y-pipe is not a restriction. This is why I keep preaching about equal length for our application! If you can line up the exhaust pulses so they run down the exhaust like a train one after the other and not have to fight each other for the same space performance increases.

And just in case anyone is curious, here is the areas for given tube sizes. This is just for the outside of the tube and doesn't compensate for true inside diameter.
1 5/8" = 1.625 and has 2.07" area
2.25" has 3.98" area
3" has 7" area

There wasn't any group buy per se but you can get them at URD. I have no idea if they are back in stock yet. I think a couple others have ordered elsewhere so maybe they will chime in. Let me know when you get it @5thGearPinned. We can add it pretty quickly when we do the rest of your stuff especially since we will be installing the cooler thermostat so only need to drain coolant once.

 

URD can get them. They are on backorder at the moment and they are not for the Tacoma so a little modification is needed or extra parts, but the Tacoma specific one is supposed to be released 4th quarter of this year.

 

Wonder if the taco specific radiators will be the same size. Or smaller?

 

Two inches shorter so most likely slightly smaller total capacity.

 

I was going to build my own welding cabinet, but I cheated and got the Vulcan one from HF. For the price it’s actually a really nice cart.



Still need an adult sized Argon bottle before I can really play.
