Recently removed my fenders. I know I know, it’s not for everyone, but I like my Taco without them. Anyways, I wanted to share my way of plugging up the fender flare holes if anyone is wanting to do the same. I bought these push rivets from Amazon.

PartsSquare 50pcs Fender Liner Fastener Rivet Push Clips Retainer for 2002-2010 Ford Explorer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B165132/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_BevrBb8VQVXNW

Perfect size. No fear as they will not fall out.

I had two pieces of foam laying in my garage, and pushed all rivets into them so they could stand up right.

Of course, get some plastic primer paint, your vehicles paint, and some clear coat. Luckily Duplicolor makes my Indigo Ink Pearl in a spray paint (8P4) which was a big help.

I think they came out rather nice. Much better than having exposed holes. Any opinions or questions would be great!

I did something similar. I followed this thread, and it was a lot of work but it looks so much better than exposed holes. The downside is that you need neoprene washers to snug it up, and a lot of work to sand down and fill holes on the body plugs.

Yours looks like a lot less work, but I'm curious how it'll look with it being a slightly rounded head as opposed to flat. If I could do it over, I'd probably follow your route to save myself the effort.

Take some pics from further back for a more complete picture to see how well they blend

edit: also that's odd that your bed has a few recessed body clip holes. I wonder why.

I’d say try it out, but you did a lot of work on yours! They look great. I almost went that route of sanding and using washers from another thread I was viewing. I figured if I find a large enough rivet I won’t have to use washers, and that’s what I ended up doing.

Oh I'm definitely not changing them now. I have like 6 hours put into these things! They're here to stay.
