Magnet looks good for the Mileage. Ive had differentials which have a few ounces of oil drain out which have held together albeit they began to howl at speed. Play looks normal, oil plug looks normal. I'd love to hear the techs reasoning.

Most people never change the diff fluid. Same for the transmission fluid. Even truck people who use their truck all the time don't change those fluids. When I buy used, I assume the only fluid ever changed was the oil, hopefully. What you have on the plug looks normal. Drive it until it becomes an issue, then change yourself for a lot less money. There is a good write up on here on how to do swap out the third member. Probably won't need to though.

Hmmm, 35k on that gear oil and that is all you have on the magnet? Move along folks nothing to see here. Ok, and I have purchased two brand new 4WD Tacos now and both had about that much play in the rear.

I'll never change by trans fluid but do my diffs religiously. Just me.

I do both, but I know people who drive a truck for 10-15 years and never change either. Truck usually runs just fine too. I view it as cheap insurance, especially on an AT. I would bet the vast majority of trucks on the road have never had either changed.
