Started the day off doing a short run in the rocks as a shakedown for my buddys 4runner and then did a quick snow run but spent more time pulling out a 1/2 ton chevy. Good time though, good to get the cruiser out for a bit.

Been a while, I had to look back through this thread to find some info and figured I'd update it a little.

Time flies guys, it's wild. Anyhow got that new PSC pump on and a second cooler and bigger 2"x8" ram. Up from 1.5x8.
I took it on a quick test run to the rocks. Works great! We'll have to get it out on a serious trail to really know though as where I struggled the most was on a steep decline with tires into rocks

I also went from low steer single shear tie rod to high steer double shear and 1.5" .250 to 2" .250 DOM. I did mine a bit different than others but feel pretty good about it. At some point I'd still like to plate the knuckles but we'll see.

I also got an HE351 rebuilt and installed, along with a 4" downpipe, larger air filter, and 3" charge air piping.

I bought a 2nd gen cummins Denso AC compressor. Pulled all the lines and cleaned them, flushed out the condenser as well. Replaced the drier and pulled the evap core and flushed that and replaced TXV while I was in there. Had a local AC place build AC lines, they tigged on one end and we were able to use off the shelf fittings for the rest of the ends. The 92 was R12 so I just flushed everything and changed the orings. Then I added PAG oil and kind of took a guess on the amount of r134a. I ended up going with about 80% of system capacity. So factory uses 33.5 oz of R12 and I added about 27 oz of R134a. The pag oil was a bit of a guess too since I was adapting a cummins compressor and new lines to the rest of the Toyota system but I ended up running about 7 oz. Doesn't work quite as well as my 97 4runner but still blows plenty cold. Pretty excited to have working AC.

So then I was unhappy with the Getrag being the no shifting POS that it is. I dropped it out to give it some love. Replaced the rear main too, obviously.

On to the Getrag being a turd, lots of issues with shifting and just general being a turd. The clutch was hot spotted and the input shaft was chowdered right to hell. First gens use a bronze bushing instead of a needle or roller pilot bearing, FYI.

So I ordered an input shaft from Zumbrota as well as bearings and seals. I also ordered, after discussing my wants/needs with Southbend Clutch, a street dual disk with slightly billet center discs and without the neoprene boots they usually put over them.

I put new bearings in the getrag but did not tear down the main shaft to redo synchros, the only syncrho I could see without pressing the main shaft apart looked good and I figured it was the chowdered bearings, wobble and damage to the input shaft, bad pilot bearing, and crap clutch causing my issues. Stupid. Anyway moving on I but new bearings and seals and got the clutch all bolted in. Plus replaced the rear main seal as that was lightly weeping. Had a hell of a time stabbing the tranny. The bellhousing just will not clear the tunnel with how I have it in there. I stabbed the whole drivetrain as one unit when I built this a few years back. Again, Stupid.

Anyway I got the trans in and had the same exact issues, and the south bend clutch was real weird. Went through a lot of hassle with that. I was not thrilled.

Then somewhere in all this I finished up the rear swing out and actually threw some paint on it.

Over new years, winter just hated quite made it, it was depressing. I wanted to snowmobile bad but it was so warm so I thought we'd make the best of it and head out for some camping in the desert. It was a good test run for a few changes I had made here and there, and really highlighted some issues, largely the Getrag. Also really pushed me towards getting some kind of sway bar, it'd been on my to do list for a long time though. I have been since inception and still am fighting high EGTs as well so there were some ideas born there as well.

After the trip I decided to shop around for an NV4500. I ended up purchasing one from High Gear Transmission out of TN. They own the NV4500.com website. I talked to their builder on the phone for a good while and felt pretty good about buying from him. Anyhow pulled the trigger on that and then ordered the Advanced Adapter Getrag to NV4500 bellhousing kit. Pretty straight forward but you need to cut down the input shaft bearing retainer to make clearance. So my buddy turned it down on his lathe for me. This time I bolted up the bellhousing over the clutch and stabbed the tranny through the throwout bearing. Much easier.
Comes with a goofy adapter but pretty much bolts in like the getrag.

This is the later style with the removable shift tower. I had to cut down the shifter a bit to get it to clear the steering wheel, and had my buddy tig it back together for me.
Also grabbed a samsung tab A to use with GAIA maps, pretty excited about that.

Called up Tony at TK1 and ordered a custom swaybar. Still working on that install though.

And then I decided to try and combat EGTs, I'd try and lower IATs with a dorkel. It just feeds air right under my filter. I also bought a WRX hood scoop I want to add to try and reduce under hood air temps so I'm sucking in even less hot air.

I bought one of the $70 china snorkels with the awful templates, snorkel great, template beyond useless.

Still plenty of things I want to get taken care of as time and money allow -- Bottomless money pit.

Also just as a years later follow up. I swapped back to a toyota master cylinder, t100 1 1/16", and my brakes are kick ass. The 1 3/16 was too big
