I need to wait to have "the official" party. I need to get some grass growing and get this red mud covered up. Still a few more things to complete. I've taken the last couple weekends off to enjoy myself with little work involved.

Side note: I unpacked a box the other day that had all my "Calvin and Hobbes" books in it. Best comic of all time.

Great job! I just read through this whole thread. Nice job on the floors. I do hardwood floors part time now, but started when I was 16 and that's how I put myself through College. I can relate to missing that kind of work now that I have a desk job!

    @Jh5370
I've always liked doing hardwoods. That was my first "real job" when I was 16 as well. It is hard, back breaking work, but very rewarding when the finished product shows up.

I know this thread has been dormant for a while. I've been piddling with little stuff for a few weeks. Here is a teaser of something that has been bothering me for a while. Finally got started on the porch columns today:
    image.jpg
Everything is cut and ready to install. I just have to paint a few more edges of the mirtek siding and finish the rest, but my wife made diner plans, so I have to cut short today. Maybe finish tomorrow, weather permitting.

Up next is the screen on the porch off the kitchen area.

    Stay tuned.

Everything looks great . I built my house , along with my dad in 97' . Im tellin ya , talk about being proud ! Then got a divorce and had to sell it , talk about heart ache ( selling the house , not the divorce ) . House payments suck but its worth it , especially when you do a lot of things yourself.

    Update:

Working on building the mantle piece for the fire place.
This will be painted like the rest of the built-ins and cabinets, so I used poplar.
Originally I was just going to do something like this:image.jpg

But it needed more, didn't fit right, so I made some legs for it:
    image.jpg

Cut these out and used my small Ridgid laminate trimmer to make the flutes. I have 5 test pieces before I (my wife) ok'd the layout.

Not 100% finished with it but here is a good look. I have some "feet" to go on the bottom and a few more small trim pieces for the tops of the legs that are not on yet. Everything is glued and pocket hole screwed, so there are very few nail marks. I've been wanting to build this thing for about 8 months now and finally got to it.
    image.jpg

Looks good so far, constructive criticism welcome, maybe something I'm not seeing. I'm about 18 hours into it right now.

Here is my plug for Occidental Leather.

    Stronghold Suspendavest 2500.

I love it. I've worn tool belts for years and decided to try this. Best part about it is you can mix it up. Add pouches or go without. Run a full on framing setup, or go with simple top out/finish/shop, minimal tool setup. The vest itself holds multiple tools, or the straps allow additional pouches.

I will add more Oxy stuff to my arsenal after buying this vest. It is pricey, but just like anything, you get what you pay for. Just a satisfied customer, giving feedback to others.

A plug for my dog too, cuz he'z a gud booi!

Maybe it's been answered. but did you leave a gap in the back wall in order to turn it into a pull through at some point?

It will open up through the back one day. I plan to extend the building and add another room behind it. Just planning ahead for a large door, later on down the road.

I thought as much! I'm jelly. My tacoma barely fits in my garage as is, and I can't put a jack under it without putting it through the ceiling.
