Blower motor sometimes needs a smack to get started

So I went through all the nonsense of replacing the resistor plug and cable previously. This fixed the issue I had where it would only work on high most of the time.

it's been a few months but now I'm having a different problem where it won't work on any speed, if I reach down and give it a hard smack it will start right up and then work perfectly until I turn it off for a while.

I had already previously taken it out to see if it could be oiled, but this one looks a lot different than all the pictures I've seen on here and I don't see any way to take it apart, much less oil it

When it does run, it does not squeak or chirp, but it does have a dull sounding "da da da da da da da" as it spins. It's very quiet and not very noticeable.

I read that part 87103-04044 is like a revision that is supposedly better. Is this true?

Should I go ahead and replace it?

Yes replace it. The brushes in the motor are only making intermittent contact. Hitting it with your hand shakes the brushes and makes them have better contact

Well darn, I guess I would have had to at some point.
So what is your opinion on the different revisions?

When my resistor went bad I could usually smack the blower motor and get the fan to work on all four speeds. I know you said you replaced the resistor already but it’s possible you got a defective one.

Also, FWIW, I replaced the original motor in my 2009 with the newest OEM revision to eliminate squeaks and squeals a while ago. It’s been working great.

If you can afford it, go OEM

The blower is pretty easy to access though, so if you want to try a cheaper option and see how it goes it's not like it takes a bunch of time to pull it back out
