Hypertech Speedo Calibrator for 18?

anyone know if the 16-17 works with the 18?

 

Call the manufacturer and ask. (not a sales vendor)

I suspect (but don't know) that the answer is yes. AFAIK it's even the same unit that works in 2nd gens.

 

It should, all it does is plug in between the dash harness and the gauge cluster - I highly doubt Toyota made any changes there.

 

I just called hypertech directly and they said there’s nothing available for 18s yet. They said the one for the 16s/17s wouldn’t work/has to be model specific. Anyone tried it in the 18 yet?

 

I called Hypertech yesterday for an update - they are still working on a 2018 model, no additional info available!

 

I called Hypertech today after noticing their website had been updated to show the 2018 Tacoma is now an option. They said the same one for the 2016/17 (Part #730123) now works on the 2018.

 

Good to know for the future when I install larger tires.

 

I went to 33" tires from stock, and wondering if it is worth it to re-calibrate? I know the ODO, speedo, MPG, and shift points for tranny will be off, but does it make that big of a difference with the shifting?

 

I went to 34's from stock and though the shift points feel okay to me, I have issues with the speedometer/odometer being off. I'll be curious to see how the shift points feel after I get this thing ordered/installed.
