Aired down skinnies provide a longer contact patch providing better traction.

Rock sliders, total skids,toytec3" lift w adjustable UCA's and O ME,leaf spring pack, w toytec 2.5 rear shocks, diff.drop andBF Goodrich A/T 275 70 R16 (spare fits nicely under bed) Ultra machined Wheels, front camera. Seat covers,Bed liner spray(can't put a scratch in it) currently pricing diff.lockers with heavy duty pumpkin gears. Lastly winch w low profile bumper
I would do the lift first.I did a three inch lift on mine and put 275 /70R 16. This size tire will allow you to put a bf ko2 as a spare under the bed without cutting anything. I have the ko2’s . Nice ride little noise.Goodwrench wants you to put50psi in the tire.I stopped at 45.

Than a 285/70? More surface area no matter how you slice it. Nope.

No your right. The 285/70 provide marginally more in width. With the 255's though no lift or cutting needed.
