Curious if people out there are towing with a lowered base 2wd 5-lug Tacoma? Would like to know what the drop is and how it does with it?

Don't tow with a lowered truck, ever. Reducing suspension travel kills the trucks ability to handle any kind of a load.

Right on. When you lower a truck you basically destroy towing ability. Bad idea and dangerous to tow with a lowered truck. First time while towing at any kind of speed when you hit a bump in the road it will be very clear why you don’t want to tow lowered.
You can change that a little if you install air bags and maybe adjustable air shocks but I’d advise against it.

Unfortunately I have to lower my Tacoma a bit. I'm in a wheelchair so I have to get it down a bit to transfer in/out. I'm looking to only do a 2" drop in the rear. nothing extreme. Also considering using these Ridetech air over leaf air bags. https://www.ridetech.com/products/air-suspension/airoverleaf/ Looks like that is what they are designed for?

Had to follow-up. Just looked up the Toyota X-runner towing capacity. It is rated for 3,500 pnds? It is basically a lowered Tacoma. Why would that be ok?

How much weight do you want to tow?

Tongue weight will be more of a factor: I had a lowered elcamino and towed with it. Make sure the trailer is fairly balanced with only 200-300 lbs on the hitch and it won’t be of such as a concern.

Around 2,500 pounds . My trailer is Aluminum and is 660 pounds. Seems light to me.

When you said lowered I thought you meant lowered like in Low rider lowered where the bottom of the vehicle is barely off the ground. 2” is hardly lowered. Depending on the weight and payload you may be ok towing. You still may want to look into airbags and or air shocks.

My plan was to use 2" lowered leaf springs with QA1 Adjustable dampening shocks. Also progressive bump stops. From there if it looks I need maybe some helper airbags. I would never exceed the factory towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. I would most likely be towing 3,000 pounds at most.

Sounds like you have it well thought out. You should be good to go and good to tow.
