recently replaced my stock bumper, looking for something with a little more rear protection (been hit in the rear while parked at work 4+ times in last year), no problems there, but when i attempted to wire in some LED lights into where the license plate lights had been, didn't get any voltage reading.

noticed my 10A tailgate fuse (in fuse box behind the coin compartment) was blown, so replaced that, using test leads, again attempted to check voltage. fuse blown again.

not very experienced at all when it comes to auto electronics. the license plate lights worked perfectly fine before i replaced the bumper. no obvious damage to any wiring... next step is pulling back some of the conduit to see what i can find.

anyone experience a similiar issue? really don't want to bring to the dealer for $150 in electrical diagnostics... and currently can't drive at night :D

    here are the LED's: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RIEQXY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cut & broke off some stuff.
Are your test leads right? If multimeter, right plugs and setting?
I've popped fuses trying to test before. :anonymous:

Can you put original lights back on and see if they still work?

you must be shorting it out. Make sure no wires are touching each other. Also, those lights should do the trick for you.

I've popped fuses trying to test before. :anonymous: ---> i actually wasn't totally sure about this so tinkered with multiple settings... always blew a fuse (went through about 5 at this point, lol)

Can you put original lights back on and see if they still work? --> going to try this when i get home from work

you must be shorting it out. Make sure no wires are touching each other. --> on initial look, nothing touching. if CAN'T get the original lights to work, next step will be to pull back some of the conduit & look for shorts...
