Windshield Availability Issues?

Got 3000 miles on my '18. Couple weeks ago was just leaving our place after a heavy rain, getting onto a heavily wooded county road and while going ~25mph a "something" dropped
from overhead onto the W/S and took out the left side. I say "something" cause I stopped and could not find what that "something" was......!!! No wasn't a bird or animal cause still has the big wet wood debris smear on the glass.... but could not find the wood piece... anyway that's irrelevant ......
The issue is ...... talked w the auto body Co that does all the glass replacement for most of the Toyota Dealers here in the Twin Cities (MN) and they said that there is a 3 month (no typo) national shortage of windshields for the '18 Tacoma's!!!
Two questions....
1. Has anyone here run into this w/s shortage thing?
2. Are the w/s on the 18's any different than the 16's or 17's?
Have not had a chance to follow up w the glass repair place but thought I'd see what anyone here has heard as well.....

2018 windshields are different because of the TSS-P gizmos mounted to it.

There was a post somewhere that when getting your windshield replaced, be sure that the installer does NOT unplug the TSS-P sensor. This help you by not having to get the system recalibrated afterward, or something like that. It was said to just leave it dangling.

 

yeah 18s are different b/c of TSS, but I know they didn't have the same backlog on the 17s when I had to get mine replaced (for the 2nd time in 18 months) a couple weeks ago
