    Another update...

36k miles and the truck is in the dealer bullpen waiting for a new engine. That's the short story.

May be a taco in my future again soon.

Yeah it is under warranty, but it's been an ordeal so far. This happened almost 3 weeks ago. At first, the dealer told me there were no new engines available and there were a long line of people needing them. No repair in sight. Months at least. 2 weeks after initial failure, I found an email between FCA and the EPA saying they averaging 215 failures a month in 2016.

After I dug up that e-mail and fired off emails of my own, now all of a sudden an engine is available. And I finally got authorized for a rental car. My ram is the 2nd one sitting at this dealer waiting for an engine.

Jees! Sorry you got drawn into the Dodge nightmare:( This smacks of the typical latter days Mopar bullcrap that my buddy at work went through when he bought a brand-new 2001 Dakota DC v6. Went through an engine, two trannys and one rear end in the first two years he owned it. He wound up kinda hating on me because I bought my 2001 Tacoma shortly after he bought his truck and as you would figure, I had no troubles with mine. I remember he'd call my truck the "turd" cause of the TRD stickers on the fenders. I couldn't blame him being fukky-fukky like that because of what Dodge put him through. Reading your thread shows me they're still holding fast to their crap product.

EcoDiesel is gone. I have a taco again. :woot:2009 DCLB 4x4. Came with a topper, bedmat, and weathertechs, and some 265's. I think he may be a member here...or was at least a lurker. It has a tailgate hose clamp, and velcro on the column (scanguage?).

I have a new pro-lock assembly ordered for the snugtop; it had a busted cylinder. The DTRL lenses are also all cracked up. Gonna have to tackle that one.

I did what you did. This is my 3rd Tacoma and after getting an F-150 that was requiring about $2 a mile worth of repairs I said screw it and went back to the Taco. Glad you are back and in a 2nd gen!

I debated a Tundra, but decided against it. I originally went to the full size because I had two kids in car seats and wanted more cab room and at the time I was commuting a lot so the EcoDiesel was favorable. Now, one child is in a booster and the other will be eventually so I'm ok with the smaller backseat. Otherwise I just prefer a smaller truck for tight spaces/trails. Had to pull the trigger on a long bed this time though!
