I have a 2013 DCLB Sport stock height. I got this Equal-i-zer wdh, but the shank that comes with it seems to stick down pretty far. Looking around it seems they are all this way. I have about 10.5" (unloaded) from the bottom of the shank to the ground. Does this seem like enough clearance? I feel like it will scrape going over steeper parking lot inlets, speed bumps, etc.

Haven't had any issues dragging when my hitch is on the truck. Is your truck sagging when you have the trailer attached to it:eek:?

If it's like my hitch you can remove the ball section, flip the hitch and reinstall the ball to give more clearance.

It doesn't sag when the trailer is loaded. That measure is unloaded. Would be lower if the truck was loaded up for a week of camping though.

Won't work that way, my trailer would be angled up at that point.

That would depend upon where you take your trailer. 10.5 inches sounds like a gracious plenty for going down the interstate, but may not be enough if you're making your own road across some desert landscape.

Not to be snippy, but it either drags or it doesn't. As they say, "A miss is as good as a mile." Feelings really have no part in this.

Did you read the instructions for the WDH? The truck should stay level with and without the trailer. The WDH when set properly should keep the same height (or close to). If it doesn’t I would question if you have it set correctly.

Yeah, if your trailer is offroadable swap out the WDH for a ball hitch of appropriate height once you leave the interstate behind. WDH's don't function well offroad, going through gullies, washouts. The truck/trailer combo can function fine offroad with a ball hitch, the two units move independently, with a WDH, no.
