    Hi everyone,

I have a fun one for you all. When coasting around 20-40 mph and then accelerating I sometimes get a rattling noise. The noise can be described as almost like a chattering noise, almost like a bike chain not catching right. Sometimes it's loud sometimes its quiet. But it only happens when accelerating after coasting. I asked the dealer and we tried to recreate it but it wouldn't happen on run.

The noise seems to come from either under the vihicle or the engine compartment but I cant really tell. I tried for a few hours to get a video of the noise to post, but whenever it does happen I'm not ready.

Just as an FYI, 2.5" lift rear 1.5" lift front. Checked all the things I've messed with personally and the fasteners are all torqued properly. Happens with all skids on or all skids off.

Has anyone every had something similar to this?

I've heard converters make rattling noises before. I had a new '87 Mustang that did that. It was fixed under warranty.

Is it the chain for the spare tire? Had one of those threads pop up this week.

If not, I'm guessing exhaust related.

Checked that. Chain is tight and making no noise.

For bad gas, I've been getting a lot of costco fuel. But this comes and goes even on the same tank. I also tried googling to figure out the noise and I could only find this video that sounded similar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBWXxWD7g30 at about 25 seconds. But not quite.

Cough... cough... I uh.... had my truck towed to a dealership for that one... Not one of my proudest moments. I was convinced I had broken something.

Per the dealer, I've been trying to get a video of it. Lately, it only happens in the evening. No noise on the way to work, at work, or the commute home.

Heres what I got. It's kinda hard to hear. If you can turn your bass down its really easy to hear. Its at about 2 seconds.

My truck has been doing the same consistently every day after driving off from a cold start. It usually only happens on a cold start and for the first 2 or 3 accelerations, then if just stops. It's a rattle that sounds like a loose heat shield but that's not the case otherwise it would happen all the time. I've been meaning to take it to the dealer but they'll probably want the truck over night to recreate the issue on a cold start
