Probably better than the total chaos extended axles I got. Which are already starting to rust! It’s only been 6 months since install. The finish on it sucks. I graded the exposed shaft to try and stop it for now. Getting them powder coated could be an option but not sure if that will affect the rotational balance

Shouldn't be an issue. I plan on painting mine for the same reason - I did some research on painting driveshafts and the consensus was paint them. Obviously someone somewhere will figure out a way to put on enough paint to throw something out of balance. Message to self: don't be that guy lol.

Anybody interested in buying them prebuilt? I have 2 in stock and can make more if there is a big enough demand

Found this old thread.. lol. I actually wrap my axles in high quality electrical tape. Whenever you do some annual maintenance, with your coilovers out, just take off the old tape and re wrap them. Mine are in pristine condition minus areas where rocks have chipped the electrical tape. The pic below is after I replaced my uniballs.

Not bad man, i decided to replace one of my cv axles with a dirt king one since it comes powder coated and not naked like tc does. I never understood why tc doesn’t have a better powder coat option for the middle portion of their axles.

Your extended axles should come with new c-clips installed on the outer side of the axle shaft

I agree, and so does everyone else in the LT world... however Baja Kits doesnt supply them, which is stupid.

That sucks. Sorry to hear. I’d try talking your axle to Napa or a driveshaft shop. They may have some spares

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I am trying to understand the steps involved to change out CV axle shafts to go to extended. Anyone know if there are better step by step instructions anywhere?

    Thanks

that is perfect, thanks. My original CV joints have 135K miles on them, boots are still intact. Would these be ok to reuse?

I would put new boots with long travel they get extended more and are going to wear out faster don’t want to put it all together just to have them tear soon after
