I have a 2017 SR5 bought new from the dealer in the fall of 2016. In the spring of 2017 we noticed that the A/C (and fan) occasionally shuts off of its own accord. Turning the fan off and then on (or even adjusting the fan level) causes the A/C to resume. During the summer, we might go a month without it happening, or it might happen 2-3 times within a week. I should note that this also happened once during the winter with the heater/defrost.

We took it in to the dealer last year, and they kept it for a few hours and let it run. They couldn't replicate the issue and said that because the problem was intermittent, there was nothing they could do. I made sure that they logged the issue so that there would be a record of the problem.

    Two questions:
    1. Any ideas about fixing the issue? I've scoured this and other sites and found similar, but not identical issues (although the second Youtube video I'm linking might be the same issue.) Again, it's of note that the system doesn't just start blowing warm air; the fan itself cuts off.

    2. The truck is still under warranty. Can a dealership blow off a problem by saying that they can't replicate it? And if not, any advice on how I should preoceed?

The first video was recorded by my wife (sorry about the orientation of the camera):

I found this next video on Youtube; the problem looks identical:

It looks like you have faulty switch either of the Button or Selector Switch.. Did the dealer check those?

Or either having a bad or loose wire connections..

I can't say for sure, but I don't think so. I believe they just peaked in the cabin every so often to see if the AC had cut off, and it never did.

How can they be blowing you off if they dont know what to fix, because it won't do it for them?

If you can figure out how to make it do it at will, then take it and show them.

I'd start by dinking with the switch you use to get it to come back on. Ie if you can jiggle it to get it to quit..........
