Depends on what your goal is? You want subs and bang the walls down or just some good 6.6" for the doors? You plan on putting amps and a crossover?

I updated the look of my interior to 2015, installed a 6.1" with Scout GPS from a 2017 into my 2005

I purchased the radio off of the Buy/Sell/Trade section.

I had to get a few parts for it to fit:

The hardest part was making the 2005-2011 to 2009+ radio wire harness to add USB + AUX

    Microphone
    PT546-NU160
    XM Antenna
    PT546-21110-AK

These parts are not necessary but were part of the update

    Center Panel
    55405-04070

    Lower Panel

    12-15 Climate Control
    55900-04090

2005-08 to 2012-15 Climate Control Adapter

I swapped to a leather steering wheel and added audio controls. Replacing the airbag cover was difficult but doable, I didn't want to pay for a new airbag, they're expensive.

AMAZING! Looks perfect man! I got a question for you, are 2005-2011 AC controls all compatible? I have an 06, wondering if I can use any of those to replace mine or does it have to be from an 05-08 like you mentioned?

No amps or subs, just good, quality sound. The oem speakers are 12 years old now...

Yeah, there’s a lot of time in that just figuring out how to do it.
But if just the radio update is easy.

That is exactly what I did. No amps or subs...I like quality sound not thump thump. Really any speaker is going to be improvement over OEM. I went with Hybrid Audio Technologies from Mr Marv (he is a member/vendor on here). I would recommend looking up www.*********.com as they have a bunch of how to videos. I followed it step by step to do my install. Keep in mind I have never done an install before. So I was able to add hands free calling, blue tooth, and keep steering wheel controls.

Man, for speakers it's less than $200. Like i said i don't need anything extravagant, just some solid speakers. I don't listen to rap or anything with a lot of bass.

I blew the Polk's I had in my rear doors a while back and bought some JBL GTO629 6.5" speakers for about $75 on ebay to hold me over until I decide what I'm going to go with. For the money the are pretty good! I have 400watts going to them and they are holding up fine.

I just replaced my stock 2009 factory radio with a Pioneer 4200NEX. The factory unit was replaced 3 times under warranty and I started again having the same problems. Mine had the xm roof antenna and steering wheel controls. I bought the XM reciever (Amazon open box for @$95, unit was brand new but box was ripped) antenna wire for $55 ( from kick panel to new radio), headunit on sale for $395 FLEABAY SALE), axxess SW controls for $89 and dash kit for @$20 (scosche and it kinda sucks trim ring doesnt want to stay on) and plug and play wiring harnesses were @$30. I also wired up the OEM backup camera to display on the radio in reverse.
