So I've had this bike, a 1974 CB450 for 3 years now and it has been the biggest headache of anything I've ever owned. Actually out of every single internal combustion engine I've come in contact with I've never met one that was less inclined to run. After 2 years on and off of various mechanics and tinkering with it myself and never having it run right I found out that the bottom end was bad. Cut to it sitting in a storage area for 6 months while I debated selling it. So I finally decided to build it into the little custom bike I'd always dreamed of.

This was the bike after a fresh custom repaint, adding drag bars and recovering the seat. That is the earliest photo I have of it. Then I did kinda the half-assed cafe thing by removing the fender and adding some smaller stuff.

After this I tried to take it for a mile ride and it broke down on me. That was the last time it ran. Found the bad bottom end put it away for 6 months, partially disassembled.
About 1 month ago I stripped it down to nothing but the wheels and frame.

Then I began the search for a new engine as nobody wants to rebuild the bottom ends of these motors. Found this 69' parts bike through a friend and got it for free

So with that to rob any parts it made this whole thing a lot cheaper. One week later I found all of this for $400 and jumped on it as there were 2 good bottom ends in all that junk instead of dealing with a locked up motor that might not be good.

So now that I have 3.5 CB450's I'm pretty confident that I can build a decent bike and make some money back parting things I don't use out.

Currently the motor is being rebuilt from the best bits of all my motors and after a little more research on the style I want I'll chop up the frame.

Looks badass man!! I have a 1970 CL175 that I'm working on right now. I got the motor running perfectly and now working on the cosmetics.

Nice! Did you have to put bigger jets in the carbs for the exhaust?

I won it on a raffle. Was custom made for ahrma. Was definitely rejetted. Wife was going to race it until she got pregnant. So I sold to fellow racer.
