Just to add some intel; on a 2017 the factory nuts on the U-bolts are also 19mm so you really only need the one deep socket if that is your vehicle. Also, the rear Timbrens procedure can be done with the wheels still on, it just means working in a tighter swing space with ratchet and torque wrench. I just jacked up my frame enough to unload the spring for vertical working space and left the tire in contact with the ground so my axle would not move during the process. Just a slightly different way of doing it. Took roughly one hour total time.

great input and feed back, especially for people who make not have the time to do all the additional steps. the main reason i did it that was was for pictures but also the extra room for torque as you stated. plus the longer i get to work on the truck the longer i get to avoid the honey do list lol

I would bet that the lack of discussion here is due to the thoroughness of your post. I think every question I had was answered in detail. Thank you.

you know what....? I love the answer! It does feel good when you can contribute back to the forum that has helped me so many times in the past. While I don’t get on here as often as I’d like anymore I still try to get on as often as possible. New HC rear bumper is on the way so I’ll most likely do the same step by step!

Thanks for the step by step install. I'm a huge Timbren fan, got them (rear only) on our Honda Pilot and our e350 based RV. Our Tacoma will get them too. I did notice that the rear U bolts are a bit long...i think I would trim the extra...once again nice writeup!

thanks for the kind words, as far as the u bolt length I was getting an expedition leaf pack which now o have zero threads showing so if I were keeping those pictured I would have definitely trimmed them down.

Great step by step. Any insights on how they feel/work? Really thinking about this upgrade.

move had them a while now and I’d say for my application they’re great! If you plan on heavy load constant or often I would recommend bags but this works perfect for your everyday driving and weekend Lowe’s runs lol

I do not recommend anybody get these. I want to start by saying that atombren industries does make a good product and The bump stop itself is softer than the factory bump stops but there’s only one issue. you hit them SO MUCH. It’s insane how often you hit them because they are so incredibly tall! Not only is the bump stop itself tall. But the plates you put the bump stop on are also extremely tall. It just sucks that even when hitting a speed bump or rain gutter in the road, I hit them. I will most likely be going back to stock soon. I’ve been running them for about 2 months now, and like I said. When you do hit the bump stops it isn't as rough as the factory bump stop. But you hit it so often that it is extremely annoying. And I’m running a 2” lift in the rear and a 3” lift in the front and I barely carry any weight in the rear. I couldn’t imagine how bad it would be if you had a stock ride height, or had extra weight in the bed that would weigh it down. When you measure how much space you have between the bump stop and the part on the frame where it hits, there’s only about an inch and a quarter before you hit. I definitely do not recommend anybody gets these.

uhhh that’s kind of the point with their system... thus the name “active system” Instead of the harsh jounce you get from regular bump stops, enjoy a much softer, smoother stop when your vehicle bottoms out.

I have the Timbren setup and am running mid travel 3" up front and 2.5" OME MD packs in the rear with full steel plate armor all around to include a 34" tire on the dual swing outs and extra gear, my truck weighs about 5000 lbs in daily trim and Florida being on swamp land and ever expanding is always under construction meaning the roads are shit.

With the weight on the suspension there's about 3/4 inch between the Timbren pads and the up travel pad at most and given the polished frame pads the bumps hit a lot.

    I have never once noticed.

Are you sure your shocks are doing their job effectively?

I always knew when I hit my stock bumps.

I have absolutely 0 complaints about my Timbren flip kit other than they can hold mud as the bumpers don't really drain, been considering flipping them and drilling the up stop frame pads and mounting the Timbrens upsidedown.

2013 DCLB TRD-Sport complete stock (suspension not wore out) running Timbren bump stops...solved all my issues!

I have a high-top Leer topper and heavy horse stall mats on the truck all the time. I often have 75-200lbs of additional stuff in the back as well. Before the bump stops, the truck would sag a bit in the back and bottom out easily if not careful. Added the bump stops and those issues went away. The truck sits & rides level, I do not bottom out with the same driving conditions and there is less 'wallowing' in the rear. I put these on around 60k and now have about 117k on the truck.

There are a number of copycats on Amazon listing kits as Timbren. We always recommend ordering direct from our website and we are sorry this has happened to you.
