Man, how's it like being a teacher in OC? Graduated in finance, but the prospect of being a teacher always intrigued me especially considering you get summers off for adventure. My wife is currently on her way to being one.

Do it! It’s a rewarding job in so many ways. My wife is not a teacher so I have a lot of time off with my daughter, but my brother is a teacher as well as his wife, and they take long trips together every holiday.

Its good your wife is doing it too, especially if you have young kids. My relationship with my daughter is so much better than the one I had with my working class Dad- he spent all his time at the job and really sacrificed himself for us, but we honestly missed so much because of that.

I'll really look into it, probably go to my school's resource center and inquire about it, my son will be born this November and I really want to be able to explore with him and all my future children. By the way loved your build, used your camper shell deck as a template for mine when I went to Colorado/Utah.

Highway 20,rainy pass up above Mazama is a cool scenic drive and has camping up next to the PCT trail. Then there’s a bunch of camping all along highway 20 and cool hikes,I just got back from a hike out past salmon la sac hiking cathedral pass(north of Cle Elum) St. Helens and Rainer are worth a night. Just check Trailforks as there’s biking trails basically everywhere in our state!

Blue star coffee roaster is out in twisp and is so good! There’s also a good pizza joint in Winthrop called east20

:rofl:I was just freaking out looking at the map of Hwy 20 on my iPhone, thinking why is the map in split screen mode with that horizontal line running through it!? :canada:

Anyways, pizza and coffee are only good if there’s also good local dark beer, any recommendations in Twisp or Winthrop for that?

The online pics of rhe salmon la Sac area look really nice, the river is beautiful. We’re definitely taking Hwy 20 from Seattle to Winthrop, thanks!

There’s good beer at Snoqualmie pass called “drubru” and there is a place in Winthrop called “old school house brewery” that has dark beer. I’m a dark beer fan myself, the pizza place has a good rotating tap list also. Washington has hundreds of good breweries!
The rainy pass area of the PCT is a must see even if you just drive up and check out the view at the old fire lookout!

Wow, thats a great recommendation. I really like doing panoramic photos too, the lookout seems like a perfect spot! Tomorrow’s my last shopping day before we head North, looks like we need to get some wilderness area supplies for places like that (blue bags, etc.), but that’s ok. Thanks for this recommendation, will try to fit that one in for sure.

This trip is going to be fun; so many places to see and nowhere I have to be.

Check out the google map on my travel website. There are free campsites, hikes, breweries & hotsprings all along that route you'll be taking! Too many to list here, you can discover things on your route that you may have passed up here:
