I've done a decent bit of searching around before posting this, so hopefully this question isn't super redundant.

I put Fox 2.0 coilovers on the front of my 2006 4wd Tacoma, and now the sway bar hits the coilover, and the sway bar link hits a part of the spindle (driver's side only on both occasions). The latter seems to happen when the wheels are fully turned left. It seems like the driver's side link is closer to the spindle than the passenger's side, but it's tough to tell. The driver's side sway bar is definitely closer to the coilover (and indeed is below the coil when the wheels are fully turned) than the passenger side. I noticed this at first because I heard a fairly loud "clunk" when I turned the wheel all the way to the left just parked.

So, my searching has told me to either 1- remove the sway bar (I'm not doing this) or 2 - install a sway bar relocation/drop kit. I've bought the relocation kit. My question is this - everything I see about the relocation kit is to solve the sway bar hitting the coilover problem. Will this also solve the sway bar link hitting the spindle problem? I've attached an image circling in red where I mean that the link is hitting the spindle (hopefully using the right words...).

Also, I had these installed and an alignment done because...well anything beyond replacing tires is out of my comfort zone. It sure seemed to me like everything I read prior to getting these installed that there should be no issues. Should I go back to the install guys and if so, what should I ask them about (that is, did they somehow install something incorrectly? Was it necessary to remove the sway bar and maybe it was put on incorrectly? Looks symmetric by eye but it's damn hard to tell.)?

    Thanks a lot.

*I love the fox 2.0s so far by the way. I'll gladly write up a review once I'm beyond this frustration of things not working properly :/

I have Fox 2.5’s but they come with a sway bar relocate kit. There are also spacers that go on the lower shock eye. The spacer facing the sway bar should be bigger than the other.

Not sure these items are included for the Fox 2.0’s but it sounds like they should be.

Thanks for the response. I also read about the spacers, and it does not look like these have any. Everything looks perfectly symmetric inside where the bottom eye mounts to the lower arm.

I looked at mine, I have the sway bar relocation kit and there's about an inch space between the spindle and the sway bar link.

Thanks, that’s really good to hear. I was hoping that would be the case, but I couldn’t tell from looking st the geometry of the damn thing to tell if it would push it out enough.

Part of the reason I decided to go this route was to not alter the suspension too drastically. I’ve run into countless issues years ago (like late 90s), and thought a direct bolt on replacement wouldn’t cause any issues. I sadly get to go off road very infrequently these days.

Anyone have any experience with either the fox 2.0s or anything similar and this sway bar + spindle problem? Or even coil rub on the sway bar for that matter? I’m trying to figure out if the install was messed up at all, or if this is just the way it goes (going to have them toss on the sway bar drop regardless, but am very curious). Anyway, thanks for all the replies.

Just an update in case anyone searches around for the same problem. Installed the sway bar drop kit and everything is perfect.

As an aside, the shocks are like night and day compared to the oem ones. Very smooth ride, not stiff at all on the road. I would say, without measuring, just by looking when sitting on flat ground, that the truck is as close to perfectly level front and back as it could get. I’m extremely happy with the decision to get them. Definitely buy and install a sway bar drop kit when you install them though. Hope this helps someone!
