How to replace ball joints 1995.5-2004 5lug

This is to show how to replace upper and lower ball joints on a 5lug tacoma
(Note i hve lifted spindles but al steps are the same for a stock truck)

UBJ R 4335039105
UBJ L 4336039095
LBJ R 4333039565
LBJ L 4334039445

Tools:
12-19mm wrench
10-19mm sockets
Tourqe wrench
Breaker bar
Impact gun
Ball joint separater
Jack
Jack stand
Hammer
Break clean


Disassembly
1. Jack up truck
2. Support with jack stands
3. Remove tire
4. Use 17mm wrench and remove caliper and hang to the side
5. Support lower control arm with jack
6. Use 10mm socket ti remove abs sensor ( for models with abs)
7. Remove all cotter pins
8. Use 17mm wrench and remove castle nut on tie rod, then break free tie rod.
9. Use 19mm wrench and remove castle nut on lower ball joint then break free ball joint.
10. Supprt spindle with cord so it wont fall
11. Use 19mm wrench and remove castle nut on upper ball joint and break free
12. Place spindle to the side
13. Use 12mm socket wrench and remove 4 bolts holding ubj too control arm
14. Use 17mm wrench to remove lbj fron spindle

Now you have everything disassembled, clean all parts that are going back on your truck
And get everything ready for Assembly

Assembly
1. Place lbj on spindle and tourqe to 116ft lb
2. Attach ubj to uca and tighten
3. Place spindle on lca and hand tighten the castle nut
4. Place ubj into spindle, i found using a crow bar to push the uca down into place works well, then hand tighten castle nut
5. Place tie rod on lbj bracket, hand tighten castle nut
6. Tourqe ubj and tie rod to 53ft lb
7. Tourqe lbj to 116ft lb
8. Reinstall abs sensor (for abs modles only)
10. Clean rotor of All contamination
11. Reinstall caliper
12. Put wheel on
13. Test drive
14. Inspect to ensure nothing has fallen off it came lose
