Manual transmission? If so, put it in 5th with the parking brake firmly applied, then torque that bolt. Step on the clutch before trying to pull it out of gear after.

Maybe the rubber in the harmonic balancer is coming apart. The pulley will walk around and cause belt noise

Gently pry on the balancer and see if there is a lot of movement. Ive seen subarus eat belt after belt and it ended up being a bad balancer

Well it’s definitely leaking from this seal. E09E9FC2-1C5B-4310-BDFD-17E5B1821CBB.jpg15777286-DEE1-473E-AB36-0697D9457584.jpg09D071FD-9DF0-4AB0-9F03-EEDABFD4A382.jpg

@anthony250f I’ve got a small electric power washer if you want to borrow it when you are done with the repair. I bet if you soak everything with that spray on gunk foam and power wash it you’ll be good to go.

Thanks for the offer man but I don’t even have a hose at my apartment :annoyed: I usually spray it down at the DIY car wash

Al the parts have been ordered already.

If I had unlimited money and time ls swap all day:spending:

i used simple green and a pressure washer and blasted it all off, best the motor ever looked. Glad we figured out it was indeed the crank seal though!

Including a new damper / pulley assembly, correct? That one be toast, man!

Glad to see it will be a pretty easy repair, all things considered.
