This creek that runs into Shasta is the one I'm looking for I think. What road where you on when you came across this rock slide?

I believe it was called Westside road - could be wrong. As you go over the dam, the road takes you left, you hang on your first right and keep to that trail for approx. 5-6 miles. It's a pretty easy drive. The guy "guarding" the dam was a real dick.

Nice, yeah, I've been up that way before, but not as far as you have gone. The drive isn't bad and you get some nice views and you come across some nice watering holes to lounge around. I'll have to make it up a bit further to see if I can find this specific one. Thanks for the tip

question for the redding folks, how is the fire looking in relation to shasta lake (the town). stepfather is up there and tends to shut off everything, including the house phone, at night and we can't reach him. any power/phone outages near there? he's up by the mcdonald's right off the 5 and shasta dam blvd

There is power out along Oasis Road heading into Shasta Lake City.. a good portion of the western border of Redding has lost power as well. The Fire seems to be heading more eastern than northern as far as concern with it approaching the City of Shasta Lake

Unfortunately I can’t get the PGE map to load currently but if you scroll to his area in this link it should help?
    https://www.pge.com/en_US/residenti...c-outage/find-or-report-electric-outages.page

Also just heard on the news if you are in Shasta Lake “absolutely you should be ready to go”, so it may be heading that way. Sorry to say.

I-5 is slammed right now. I’m about 10 minutes away from shasta Lake city - definitely not sleeping too much tonight.

Update - I left as a precautionary measure. Cars were backed up for as far as I could see. Got to Anderson (south of redding) traffic looks cleaner from here. It’s not looking great.

:( can’t get a hold of him. He refuses to use a cell phone. Hope his kids respond to my Facebook messages, I’ve never actually met any of them.

Definitely a scary situation with the fire. I hope you were able to contact your stepfather and get him to safety. I'm on the east side of Redding so my home is OK, just dealing with the smoke and terrible air quality at this point. I do have a rental house on the west side though and it is also OK, just had a scare and the tenants had to evacuate. I had a trip planned to the Bay Area this past weekend so it worked out. Just packed the Taco up with a few extra things in case I came back to no home but luckily it stopped spreading East. Hope everyone is OK...

I'm going to Vegas for my bachelor party this weekend and told my fiancé and family that I may stay a little longer due to "cleaner air quality". Glad to hear a fellow Redding Taco-Bro is okay here. I work in the mortgage world so this fire is pretty nutty.:bananadead:
