Orange County CAF's: up to no good

I hit it right at morning rush. That was the only sketchy part of the whole trip. I have done Laguna to Dallas many times.

 

I’ve found I could do road trips like that no problem when I was in my 20s and 30s. Now I can do about 11 hours max.

 

the final tally after 14 days...
Longest stretch we did was 605 mi in 1 day.
Fought 80-100 mph winds through New Mexico and Arizona Friday

 

600 miles on a bike is 1200 in a car. I know.

 

That is brutal on a bike. The longest I did on my bike was just under 500 miles in a day and I wanted to kick the bike as soon as it was over. That was on a CBR600RR.

 

I did 500miles on my Kawasaki ltd 750 and it sucked.

 

I do miss the bike. Sold it 2 years ago and get reminded every day I am stuck on the freeway while all the bikes are splitting lanes.

I would like a more comfortable touring bike, or something I can do cross-country in.

 

I did 5 miles in a Honda elite back in 1988.

I still own mine. I bought it in 1991. Its old like me. 1982 still runs like a champ.

 

I intentionally never rode to Vegas. The ride back hungover as fuck and no sleep woulda likely been the death of me.

 

I guess I have been lucky. Plus mine tops out at 110 and is no fun over 90. Looks exactly like this one.

 

The ltd is way more motor than it can safely handle. The i4 is no joke but the brakes, suspension, Etc certainly are.

 

A governor topped me out at 168. That would get the blood pumping. I would get on my brother's GSXR1000 and that thing was a beast. Topped out at 187.

 

My elite maxed out at about 30.

Truth. I remember being pissed at having to buy a helmet. Stupid

 

The helmet has saved me a few times on the quad.

 

We traveled through 11 states and california was the only one with traffic. Split lanes from barstow back to lomita via the 15 to 605 to 91. Worst part of the ride was being so close to home and having assholes try to cut you off. A toyota Camry out there somewhere is missing a passenger mirror from when she tried to cut off my father in law.
