Instead of POR-15 you could use something like SEM's Rust Mort. It's a chemical conversion coating. Turns rust into a black oxide that can be painted over.

What did you use to get it all down to sheet metal? I am needing to repaint my 81 and i am just planning using paint remover and sanding.

hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates. this past weekend I went out to Tampa for GuardianCon 2018, was a blast. picked up my "new" front and rear windshields and the other set of doors im gonna use. I'll get some pictures up in the next day or so. but its time to hit it once again and get this bed at least done this week lol

hey sorry for the late response, I used a combo of paint stripper from Lowes and elbow grease with my die grinder and palm sander hooked up to my 30 gallon husky air compressor!

I bet when you vacuum up all those little pieces, it makes that super satisfying sound in the vacuum tube. I love that.

alright...todays progress. finished getting the rest of the liner scraped off. bed floor and wheel wells are pretty much good to go.

need to figure out what im gonna do to get the rest of the inner wall liner off. found a good rust spot that the previous owner fiberglassed over, shouldnt be too hard to fix

havent been able to work on the bed, but all my stuff for rust prevention came in. just gotta finish getting all the paint off and I can put the POR on then prime everything and worry about body work once the truck is ready to drive. also not pictured is a Raptor liner kit for the inside of the bed

getting really close to the point where i can put POR and primer on. just gonna finish up some parts as it doesnt need to be 100% metal to be primed. gonna stand the bed up so i can get to the bottom to seal the bottom up... getting super close. almost at the 40+ hour mark lol
