I decided to do some upgrading on my stereo system and put in a 10in JL audio sub and all new speakers running an alpine stereo and mono amp. Long story short I finally got the speaker harness today and was hooking it up when i started the truck and the stereo will no longer power on at all!!!! I put a meter on the harness and get 12V on the constant wire but nothing on the ignition wire!!! Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions??? I have put a meter on all fuses in the truck and they are all good to go both under the hood and in the cab.

I also tried removing all aftermarket harnesses and going back stock with no luck at all. I am out of ideas so any help is greatly appreciated!!

Typically there's a fuse on the back of the stereo and inline on your 12v constant. If you have power, maybe double check your grounds?

There isn’t a fuse on the radio that I could find. I am thinking it’s got to be an in-line dude but I can’t locate one easily.

Did you use a plug and play set up? Can u remove plug from the back of radio and check each terminal to see if you are getting power? It could be a defective stereo. Who knows? Also, can you just hook up the stereo to get power in some other manner to see if it will power up that way?

Next, can you put your stock stereo back in and see if that still powers up?

I used a complete plug & play from OEM audio for my upgrade, looked into other ways and I may have spent more, but was one of the easiest mods I ever did, just time consuming removing panels..lol

    Too much.
I didn't have this happen to me at all with my install. I have questions for clarification though:

    1. You say you have installed an Alpine head unit. Did you solder the connections for the wiring harness, or did you crimp?
    2. Was it working and then just one day stop working?
