Looking for some recommendations on a tonneau cover...I want a hard top tonneau that
can fold and be easily removed if necessary. Also one that sits pretty flush or close to flush with bed. I've checked some from Bak ind. but have read mixed reviews..same for the ones coming stock with the Tacoma's. Let me know, looking to spend at the most a grand. Thanks!

I just installed my Extang Encore and think it looks great!! Awesome deal on Realtruck for Fathers Day with rebate for free cargo basket perfect for front section that can access with key lock. My toughest decision was whether to drill out drain holes for hose or make hose smaller and leave original.

Are you able to use the rails with the Encore?

Yes. They have you remove EOM rails, mount theirs, then reinstall original on their brackets. You use existing holes so no drilling and will end up with full use of rail system.

How well does the Encore keep water out? I have an Extang soft cover and it gets pretty wet inside.

Sorry, Ive only washed once since installed and didn't complete drainage hose install (reluctant to drill hole in bed). There was more water than I expected but haven't determined if caught by gutter or came through other ways (front or back). Will post results in week or so after completing drainage and washing.

I'm researching and seriously considering a Diamondback hard cover. Not too fond of the price, but I love that it's watertight and I love that it can support lots of weight on top of the cover if need be.

Fairly easy install, replaced OEM Tonneau. Will see how water tight it is in the next few weeks.

You have some great options available. As other members have mentioned, the Solid Fold 2.0 and Encore are both awesome covers, but are just a little higher profile. While the Solid Fold is a little higher, its incredibly easy to install and remove, and does a good job of keeping water out. It's also nice because you don't have to worry about installing the drain tubes on the rails. You have the Bak covers too, which are some of the most popular hard folding covers we sell and a variety of their models. The MX4 is their newest folding and the matte finish looks sharp. Undercover has their new line of Ultra Flex, Armor Flex and the standard Flex too. The Armor Flex actually uses a Line X top instead of powder coat, so its the most scratch resistant hard folding cover we offer without moving to the Diamondback series. The Access LoMax would be another option too. Its very thin, and sits just above the rails and is a powder coated aluminum.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions between covers and I am happy to go over the differences and compare more specifically the models.

I can't blame you, it's one of our top selling hard folding covers and the matte finish looks sharp. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions on the Tacoma specific install and i'm happy to help out.
