Just get closer to the fish :)

For real tho 60’ is pretty respectable and I’d hazard to say most salty fish are hooked well within that range. I know most freshies are lol. Line’s only 90’ long right?

One thing I’ve found helps with long shots with heavy flies at least for me is to cast the fly not the line...in other words super emphasize the pause between strokes to let your leader straighten so the weight of the fly loads the rod.
Try a sink tip shooter like said above :)

Had this thing float by hauling a bunch if old ladies. I never knew they made sectional couches to tube in.

They tossed me a Busch light. Some say that's a buzz bait, call it a trash fish.

@Sig45 The line came with the reel so I was going to try to make it work but I might invest in some shooting line.
@truchador I agree that most fishing is going to be within that range. I am more worried more about the wind than the distance. I will have to make longer casts if I'm going to fish in the surf though. I will try that technique next time I'm casting it in the yard.

Cape Hatteras. Its not supposed to be a fishing trip, but that's how I like to pass the time.

Rod length comes into play as well. Don’t feel bad, 60’ is good for that line. I have trouble getting further than 60’ with WF floating line on my 8’ 9 wt as well, and normally just move closer if possible.

And as already has been said, emphasize that pause, and load the rod.

This year I've focused on soft hackles and older traditional wet flies.....all the stuff that worked for decades before the trend toward creating flies that "matched the hatch". I can unequivocally say that they are still very, very effective! just sayin' :D

It hearkens back to a simpler time.....

It’s hard to master, but not difficult to learn. Your essentially wrapping stuff around a hook. Find a local shop and take a lesson or two.
