I have always used K&N Air Filters on all of my vehicles in the past. I am thinking about buying a K&N Air Filter to replace the stock Toyota air filter. Any reviews or advice from members would be appreciated. Thank You.

There are a couple of threads about K&N filters but I'm not sure there will be many reviews on them. You can do a search on the forums for K&N.

At the end of the day it is negligible ROI and more a preference than anything. Run K&N or don't its entirely up to you and won't make much of a difference.

From what I have read, you get VERY little in terms HP increase if any at all, no more power, no more "oomph," etcc.... BUT you get noise. If noise is your thing, I believe a K&N or CAI is a good choice. Not for me, but your truck.

I agree about the noise by the K&N. I have a manual trans so I like to be able to hear the engine more.

K&N is awesome if you want an air filter that is poor at removing dirt and is good at making your wallet lighter.

These engines can't draw enough air to make anything other than the stock filter worth buying.

    Don't.

At best it will make some noise.

At worst (over oiled) it will mess with your intake.

It will be serviceable so eventually it will save you money. For the "no because its oiled" crowd Toyota makes an oiled filter for their TRD intake, so it must not be that bad. As far as dirt passing the filter material it depends on where you use it, but since its going in the factory sealed box, doubt that will ever be an issue. I've never had dirt in the throttle on any of the intakes I've ran for 50k+ miles. I've seen people post that theirs have, but its on vehicles ran on the dunes or high dust areas.

Toyota makes contracts with companies like k&n, afe, and so on.
Not too long ago toyota had afe make an intake for them and label it "trd". They had to stop selling it after some time as it was not smog legal

Next up toyota had k&n build a replacement intake and label it "trd".... that intake runs lean.

Too much trust is a bad thing

Now, who really makes the "trd" air filter your speaking of?

    Work in progress...
I like throwing the old filter in the trash, putting the new filter in, and going of a B double E RUN.

Many years ago I bought a K&N for my 1st-gen v6. I used it about a week. Just more sucking noise. Then I did the "elbow mod" and tried the K&N with that. Even after resetting the ECU I didn't like the way it ran. So the K&N sits in the garage as a waste of money, and the truck is very happy with a stock paper filter with the elbow mod. The intake system in your new truck I am sure, is max. Not to be improved upon.
