    So my muffler is going on my 2010 Tacoma trd..anyone try an after market one? Any suggestions? Thanks..looking for something quiet

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    You might search locally for an OE unit someone has removed in favor of something else.

    Should be very cheap, or even free if they are garage cleaning.

    If the muffler is going the rest will be right behind it.

    The entire exhaust from the manifold back can be had on rockauto for less than $500.

    I agree with clearwater bill, buy locally, lots of guys take off their mufflers and you can get it for cheap.

    These trucks don't sound that great with an aftermarket performance muffler so quiet is best.

    When the OEM muffler goes bad...that’s when it’s actually time for the TRD exhaust. $475 or so...DIY install.

    I’m still surprised no one ever tracked down the Bosal muffler part number that’s used on the TRD exhaust. Just buy the muffler for $150, sawzall or bandsaw the existing OEM plumbing parts, weld, and you have a homemade TRD exhaust.

    '10 TRD Access Cab 6 speed manual
    TRD intake, skid plate, cat back exhaust and short throw shifter. Bilstein 5100 leveling front and 5100 shocks rear. 32” Falken WP AT4W tires on Gen 3 wheels.
    I just put on the TRD cat back. Wasn’t cheap but it was top quality, sounds great and fit perfectly.

    Reviving an old thread here but wanted to see current recommendations. I am in the same boat and need to replace my muffler to pass inspection.

    TRD Cat back - $400
    OEM Toyota - $400
    Bosal - $110

    Is the TRD worth the price compared to Bosal?

    Local stores have the Walker and I put one on. Around $115 lifetime bolts right on and hangers all welded on stock places. The tail pipe is old cheap way bent so has the ridges in bends. Price includes the intermediate pipe from muffler up to cat also bolt on. Pretty quiet with a little drone but when you floor it gets loud like you want. Cheap way out. Painted it high heat black for another $5. I'm a big spender.

    I have a Magnaflow that I got at 4wheelonline. It is not quiet but not annoyingly loud also. It has a refined deepish tone.

    I know its an old thread but adding for comparison was just quoted at a DC area small muffler shop $400 for a Walker "OEM", seems pricey to me even for DC, guess Midas or a chain shop would be even more $. Just ordered from Rockauto for $116 with 3-day shipping, I'll save the $280 and install myself.

    That’s what I did basically - ordered a Bosal from Advance Auto Parts which had a site wide sale and installed myself. I paid $124 at the time shipped.

    So what does the bosal sound like ? Any chance you have some sound clips ? Would you do it again ? Is it only loud when u get on it or loud all the time ?
