    Hi all. I test drove a Tacoma TRD Pro today (which was awesome). I was ready to pull the trigger and buy it.... but the "darth vader" a/c sound made me walk away from the deal. The sound was annoying and not something I could live with. Toyota needs to address this! My 2010 Tacoma does not make a noise like this. I guess my hunt for a new truck continues...

    I called Corporate. They only handle customer complaints when people are having problems with their dealer. They setup a case number? Whoopee!

    I've been hearing the 3-4 second whistle with the AC as well. No darth Vader breathing though (yikes that would tick me off more than the whistle). Glad to see mine isn't the only one! Will keep checking this thread

    NEWSFLASH!
    My local Toyota Dealer called me last week and scheduled me to bring my Truck in yesterday. Evidentally, Toyota believes they know what the issue is. I took my truck in yesterday evening. They gave me a rental. They called me today and told me they needed to keep the truck until Thursday. The Service Advisor said they had my interior dash removed to replace the part, which I believe is an expansion valve. They said they would contact me and give me updates and expect the work to be done by late Thursday. I will post updates as I get them. This is good news. Hopefully, the fix will work.

    UPDATE. THE TOYOTA DEALER KEPT MY TACOMA FOR THREE DAYS WORKING WITH TOYOTA TECHNICAL AND CHANGED THE EXPANSION VALVE. THEY HAD TO DISASSEMBLE MY DASH TO PERFORM THE WORK. UNFORTUNATELY, IT DID NOT WORK. WE MUST KEEP HAMMERING OUR LOCAL DEALERS FOR A FIX. THE SHOP FOREMAN TOLD ME HE WOULD KEEP TRYING. BUT HE SAID IF TOYOTA CANNOT FIND A FIX, THEY MAY SAY IT IS THE "NATURE OF THE BEAST". I WILL PROVIDE UPDATES AS I GET THEM. THE SHOP FOREMAN TOLD ME HE COULD MAKE THE TRUCK SET OFF THE NOISE. I BELIEVE HE WILL FOLLOW UP WITH TOYOTA. SORRY FELLOW TACO OWNERS.
