Vinyl floor is going in soon for this exact reason. I want it to be easily cleanable so nothing seeps into the floor and then off-gasses while sleeping. It will be caulked to the walls so nothing should ever seep into the porous materials. My only real concern was gasses because they will permeate everything.

Carburetors are not an issue for me as everything inside stored inside will be fuel injected so only the tank is vented. Like you said I did think of these things including the floor. No use spending all the time and money only to have an unliveable area.

You get a lot with a proper toy hauler. But is the shower and toilet (running water) worth the expense? Maybe yes?

A used toy hauler is rare up here and they are either almost new and didn’t get the use the owner expected or they are beat to shit and still going for a good buck. I can’t justify new and why buy someone else’s problems at inflated prices? The bulk of my expense is in the solar system. You won’t get that or at least no where near as capable a system to what I have. I have an old Optima red top group 27 or 31 that is rated at 47ah. In comparison I have 4X 150ah 12v golf cart batteries or 12 times the capacity of that red top. Twelve times!!! Then add in 400w of solar generation. My system kicks ass and can run many loads that would have others running a generator.

If you remove my solar system from the costing you can see a clearer picture of the true comparison. Then it becomes much clearer how much bang for the buck my conversion offers.

I am really happy with how it is coming along. It sucks being the first one I know who has used some of the materials I have. The FRP has been a massive learning experience. I have been in enough food plants to see its installation but never there during install so no one to ask about the tricks and things to watch out for. It’s not like some of the products are cheap and you can afford to screw a few up as you learn on the fly.

There is no way I was going through this much planning and effort to be sloppy on little details. It is going according to plan so far and luckily the hiccups have been minor. Some things are figure it out as I go.

The trailer build looks well in hand. You must be referencing how to start winning m/c races !!

    @Exracer2,
Do you have a link to the LED strip you used? The one I tried in the Airstream had to get pulled after 5 minutes use because it got so hot that it melted the glue and was too hot to touch. So, I need a different one....

They came from Amazon.ca. There are a few different options based on the number of LED’s and the chips size themselves. Mine are 300 LEDs per 5m strand and the leds are 2835 size. The company is Lighting Ever.

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00HSF65MC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sorry but I bought them from the Canadian Amazon but you should have enough info to find them on the US site.

    Edit:
Check this link out. It has a lot of info on the different chip sizes.

Thanks. Did you notice any excessive heat from them?

I have only run them for relatively short periods of time so far in testing. I found very little heat and my use of the aluminum channels is supposed to help heat dissipation so that could be helping.

I like hard numbers so I just got back from testing in the garage. My garage is 77F and I had a 98cm strip which also tested at 77F on a Fluke 62Max+ temperature meter. I ran it for over 5 minutes and the led side maxed out at 96F and the sticky side hit between 95 and 106 depending on location. Hope these numbers help. I am not sure if testing for longer will eventually heat soak and climb slightly over time.

Nice. You could do one set to intake and one to exhaust. I wasn’t going to do a fan or vent at all but once I started researching the Maxxfan had the best features overall. The reversible and the auto features were huge but the #1 feature I went for was the hood design that can be run in the rain.

I also like the dual arms (no twisting of the lid when driving with it open or in the wind) and the lifetime warranty on the lid.

Did some testing this past weekend. Still have to set up solar and battery system. Here are some bike pics as this is why I am building it in the first place.

Have you set your mind on what brand solar you will use?

Already have all of the solar. Went with Renogy 100w monocrystaline X 4 pcs.
