I like a bed extender for solo trips and trailer to group floats. Photo_2017-05-19_03-55-11_PM.jpg

Going to run something like that that plugs into the hitch in conjunction with the roof rack to carry our 12' two person kayak.

I agree about the rack failure. I was worried about the one on my car but I have hauled them for 8 years with no problems. Most has been on the interstate doing 75-80 mph. I had a friend use those straps on his new tundra and saw what the straps did to his paint. He was a rather anal person and didn't want to listen to me. I have also hauled them on my old tundra for 16 years with no straps.

TracRack TracOne ladder rack. Works well and is a very safe way to transport a kayak. Our tandem kayak is 14.5 feet long.

Breaks down into 4 pieces. 3 hrs of work and $125 material from Home Cheapo.

I just strap mine down to the bed. My 12' kayak has had zero issues keeping it simple.

I love the convenience of sliding the boat into the bed but my fear is the texting driver behind me or the driver in front of me who stops short at a red light camera.

Wish I could say it was my idea but I got it off youtube. The two frames are put together with wood screws and are bolted to the bed with t nuts in the trac and the side pieces are bolted to the wood frame. You only need 8 bolts to put it together and it setsup and breaks down in minutes.
