Look for cracked motor mount welds at the frame. The 05-06 Tacoma's are the only ones to have this issue. It can be remidied by simply (I guess that sounds a little easier than it actually is) welding some gussets in.

Other than that, the trucks are very solid. I would just be on the look out for the motor mounts, and your normal wear and tear items.

    i have an 05, 4 door, 4X4, manual

+1 on the ramp drive. mine had a pinging sound when accelerating hard. i've not heard it lately. i thought it was maybe engine knock but i've not heard it lately and i've not switched gas

clutch pedal might squeak during certain weather/temperatures. it was annoying so i replaced mine with a replacement model that toyota made.

weak tailgate when loading something heavy. mine dipped in the middle when loading a motorcycle. toyota has made a sturdier version. i still gotta get one but it's a little pricey since i don't want to go used in case i get another old version.

that's all i got so far. hope this helps.

Thank you, as I thought you can't go wrong with a Tacoma. I will look at motor mounts and take it for a quick freeway trip. I have always wanted a Tacoma, now is the time to park my daily driver (Dodge Cummins) and save it for chasing in Mexico. I am down in Indio by the way.
