I have a brand new set of SOS Concepts sliders that are showing signs of surface rust. The sliders have been sitting in my garage for about a month, I haven’t had the time to do the install yet. They came powdercoated but this just doesn’t seem right. They got wet ONCE while it rained as I unpacked them, other than that they have been kept dry. My concern is that if a small amount of rain has done this over a month, then having them installed is going to be a nightmare. FWIW I live near the beach and salt air gets to everything. How can I clean/protect my sliders before they get worse?

Looks like it was a really crummy prep job the coaters did. I have SOS too, but that's why I chose to get them coated locally.

You could get them blasted and coated with something better/more durable. Kind sucks though that you'd have to come out of pocket more before you even get to install and enjoy them.

I too live close to the beach, i try to rinse the under side clean when i can and use simple green and water in a weed sprayer cause im weird like that :anonymous:

I'd talk to SOS. They have to back the coating they sold you to some extent. Maybe you can get them re coated locally and partially paid for by the people who SOS uses.
