After I got home from a little boating today when I was unhooking the trailer I noticed my tail lights weren't working. I went through and checked fuses and discovered the 7.5 amp "tail" fuse from the fuse panel under the dash was blown. Of course I had every other size and amperage fuse other than a 7.5 so I borrowed one from another slot and put that in. BOOM, blew again. I pulled the LED license plate light bulb and replaced it with an incandescent one... no problems. I put that original LED back in and it blew again. When I put a new LED bulb in, it was fine. What the heck caused this? I normally pull my trailer plug from the truck when I unload/load the boat in the water but forgot to tonight. Was that it? What happened to the LED to cause it to keep popping thr fuse? Did I cause any other issues that I'm not noticing right now?IMG_6603.jpg

Alright, that's what I figured. I'm kicking myself for not disconnecting the trailer plug before getting it in the water at the boat launch. Lesson learned. Thanks for the response!

Use a different brand LED, the one you have is obviously not waterproof. (Tones of cheap LED shit out there). Unplugging the trailer was probably not the culprit, getting the taillight LED wet was.

Everybody here is on point. A lot of these cost effective ones are chinese garbage. Even if US bought, someone is Ali Baba Ebay’ing then in bulk to make you somewhat comfortable to purchase within the states and not worry about lead times or volume purchasing. Not all are garbage though. The ones that aren’t won’t last as long as OEM traditionals. But also won’t give you this headache you’re going through my friend.
