What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

The good Ole days for me were good ole days because my parents grew up during the depression and wanted something better for us.
My mother became the mother of her 8 siblings at age 13 when her mother passed away. She used to run out to the street with a shovel and a bucket after the rag man came by to scoop up the manure for the family garden. Made sure everyone of those kids including her older sister had decent shoes and clothes to go to school with and so much more. 13 years old!!! Nobody especially me are dissing or not appreciating the sacrifices folks made during those times. Post WWII life was better because of those folks and especially because of those who served and sacrificed for our country. No one had it easy prior to that but our lives became easier and better because of it!
Meh. Now back to topic.

It’s funny how it works. When I had to buy things for my ‘93 Bronco, it was “that fucking money pit you just had to have.” Now that it’s our Tacoma, it’s “man I’d really like new wheels for the taco.” Not really complaining lol she actually had good taste. She’s says no to chrome

What size spacers did you get? I bought 1.75" spacers for my 285/75/16's and the tires are being shredded by the outer wheel well and metal seams behind the rubbed out wheel well interior cover. I've already cut back some of that metal but it's not quite enough. Deciding to remove spacers today since I don't have time to dial it in before my next big trip in a few weeks.

Yesterday I took mine to go camping with some friends in Kisatchie national forest

 

Also had the new ecu update done last week and this is the first one that I feel actually has made a noticeable difference in shifting and overall drive ability.

Is adjusting them fairly straightforward? I’ve never installed aftermarket lights before...

 

Post WWII was a magical time for the US economy because the rest of the world had just had their entire manufacturing capacity bombed flat for most of a decade and the US had largely come through unscathed. We had factories, we had natural resources, and we had a shortage of labor to man them. Anyone who could stand up, see lightning, hear thunder, and was relatively white could expect a great paying job in a factory or on a farm to support their rapidly growing family.

This of course saw the rise of the baby boomers, my parents. While both my grandfathers served in WWII, one as a B-26 pilot where he flew 48 relatively successful missions, and one as a platoon commander in the S Pacific campaign for 36 months, my parents were the beneficiaries of the amazing economy that resulted from the US being the only country left in the world with manufacturing capacity post war.

I'm not sure what generation I'm in as I'm roughly 40 but my 8yo Son doesn't own anything with a screen. We technically own a TV but it's not plugged in. I'm a bit of a hard-ass as I was an Infantry squad leader in the Marine Corps and couldn't care less if his feelings are hurt. We spend almost all our spare time outdoors and I've finally decided to give up skateboarding because I ate it a month ago and fractured my wrist and a couple of bones in my hand. That's fine though... We do lots of other fun stuff together.

Everyone remembers the past with rose colored glasses. Your own story was better than reality, the good times were better, the bad times weren't as bad. Even my own military service is remembered that way. The good times with my buddies were better, the scary stuff wasn't nearly as bad, and the fact that I was almost always deployed somewhere is now sorta cool and not nearly as annoying and disruptive as it was when it was happening.

The nice thing is we all share this wonderful ethos that is America and we all appreciate going out and exploring it, and in my case, I share it with my Son so he will carry that on. Hopefully we can all continue that legacy and 30-ish years from now there's beautiful spaces where he can go too.

Damn... I talk too much.

I am running 33's and a pretty wide tire as well. It's amazing how new wheels and tires changed the entire attitude of the truck. It's a lot quieter and a smoother as well. On the trail it was much more composed as well. Thatcreally caught me off guard because my old tires were a lot more aggressive. They were 31s so maybe the taller tire rolls easier!? I don't know but i am loving it.

 

Finally got a center console organizer.

 

I will simplify this as best I can. On the bracket that is closest to the grille there is only one hole for the bolt. You can angle that bracket so that when you tighten that screw the bracket has an angle-not parallel to the lens. The top of the bracket will be closer to the lens than the bottom of the bracket. If it is parallel to the lens then it is aimed straight ahead which is what to avoid. This is the bracket that slides into the grooves in your plastic bumper. It is easier to remove both lights, set them on a bench and set them both at the same angle. You can use a satellite inclinometer or something similar to set the angle. Tighten but don't overtighten. Do not strip threads in aluminum base.

 

Got Falken Wildpeaks put on a couple days ago. 265/70/17 on stock sport suspension. No rubbing, just as smooth as stock Toyos A30s on the highway.
