I just bought a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off Road 4x4 with stock 265/70/16 tirea and rims. I am wanting to upgrade to 285/55/20 but need some help. I have searched the internet and can not find the info I need. Is this size doable without any modifications to the stock suspension? I do not want to have to cut or trim anything either. I am not wanting a lift kit (due to money) but have considered a leveling kit. Any advice would be appreciated because I've never put after market rims or lifts on a vehicle and don't really understand all the terminology. Thanks for any help.

not a tire expert but i would say 285/55/20 wouldnt be doable... why 20"? im assuming that you arent going offroad with this? the 285's compared to your stock 265's are essentially 2 inches taller and 1 inch wider. you are going from a 30.6 inch tire to a 32.3 inch tire.

No. And its not very off road friendly either.

You might do well to do a lot more research before choosing parts.

Also know that pretty much going from a 265 to a 285 isnt going to be doable without any kind of lift, cutting, or UCA changes. There are a few on here that have gotten away with going to 285's without any modification but they have specific setups that the tires and wheels just worked right. not all tires and wheels will work without modification.

I like the look. They had one with everything I wanted at the dealership and it was listed on their website for $38,000. When I got there, they wanted $50,000 because of the upgrades. Couldn't pull the trigger on that price. I will not be doing much off roading. Here is a pic of the 2018 on 20's

I would not put 20" wheels on a Tacoma

    2.5" lift w/35's
I had 285/70r17 with a 3 inch lift, and they rubbed pretty bad. The tires you want are barely smaller than those so I'd say you'll rub even with a lift. 275s might fit, I'd go to a tire shop that will let you try on different sizes before you buy something. But realistically I'd go with the stock tire size if you don't want to lift or cut anything. If you're doing it for looks, get the same size tire you have with a more aggressive tread, it'll look better just by changing the tread pattern.

Pretty sure that truck has a lift on it also. And if you like 20" wheels, go for it, it's your truck. I wouldn't go offroad with 20" wheels though, you'll damage them too easily.

looks like that tire size and wheel combo is similiar to a 285 75 16. The 285 75 16 is a common tire size for alot of tacoma owners. I own a 2nd gen and to run that configuration properly it consisted of 1: a 3” lift 2: UCA’s 3:a Cab mount chop. I understand your not wanting to or can afford two out of three. I would suggest to save up your money research a lot and ask a shit ton of ?’s.
