After driving my wifes 4Runner for a couple weeks, I have decided I want to sell the Tacoma and buy another 4Runner. She has a 2016 SR5, nothing fancy, but the quality just seems better in the 4runner compared to the Tacoma (just my observation no concrete evidence other than the dash and center console doesn't creak and squeak over every little bump) even though its a pain in the a$$ to change the oil, they have awesome futuristic features like AUTO up/down on all windows, outlets all over the place, etc. I will miss my 21 cup holders but I think the trade off will be worth it.

I want a white TRD Off-road with KDSS, but on the Toyota website, the ONLY option I can get with the TRD Off-road + KDSS is like midnight blue or some shit! I like the look of a dark vehicle but I am extremely lazy and I don't want to have to wash it once a day to get all the pollen and dust off it.

So can you get a white TRD Off-road with KDSS or am I going to be stuck with a dark one? Or is it just the location I used on the Toyota website?!

It’s just what’s currently available in your location. All colors are available except the sprecial pro color of the year.

Your best bet is to use Cars.com or something similar and see what’s within 250~ miles. You’ll get a way better feel for what’s available if you’re willing to make a drive.

My mom has a 2016 SR5 premium 4Runner and my brother had an 18 Pro 4Runner. Both preferred the 3rd gen taco as far as interior and options, as well as the dash. The 4Runner needs an update desperately

They just suck. I don’t think they’re comfortable whatsoever and they’re a decade behind any other SUV. Off to a new king ranch F150.

That’s crazy talk!!! Lol jk my spirit is just crushed as I was thinking the same about trading my taco for a 4Runner more for the space then anything but I actually love the interior of it the only cons I’m not crazy about the color options I wish they offered cement gray as the do for 18+ Tacoma’s I’d be all over it. Till then I’ll wait patiently.

My roommate has a 4th Gen and I love it. The tech on the inside leave a lot to be desired, but considering how well they sell and that the 3rd Gen Tacoma’s tech still isn’t that wild, I’m not shocked they’re not moving on that fast.

If you want to feel dated, sit down in a new Subaru. That F150 is decked out because they have to be in order to compete, and they gotta keep you staring at something other than its plummeting resale value. (Jealous of their power trains tho)

I am not to concerned with the technology in them, the Nav in my wifes 16 sucks pretty bad. Its not user friendly, car has to be in park to really use it, my phone is much faster and I can use it while driving. I do find it a bit more comfy than my Tacoma though, better gas mileage (I don't know how, the tank is only a couple gallons bigger I think), more highway power, even though it weighs like 6k lbs, smoother ride, A-trac and the down hill assist is standard. Cruises nice at 80+ on the interstate and the best part is NO vibe issues! Im not a huge fan of the suspension though, it rides smooth going straight but its got a lot of body roll and I hate the way the nose dives when you hit the brakes. The ride is comparable on the dirt road we live on though, I do think the Tacoma handles it a bit better over 15mph. I am thinking the off road with the KDSS will fix the body roll and nose dive issues though.

I actually found the exact one I was looking for down in Jacksonville, FL I was using the area code at work on the Toyota website which is Norfolk. Local dealer in Jax has one for $37k for a white TRD off road, KDSS suspension and some TRD performance package which I think is the actual Off-road package ie Locker, multi terrian+crawl control? (or maybe its the $80 TRD oil cap or something) running boards and some other stupid shit. That is before taxes, tag and title though. So I figured once all that was added back into the price it would be right at the MSRP they have it originally listed at which is $41k.

They can stay a decade behind as far as im concerned! Next logical step for Toyota would be a unibody design and minivan motors for better gas mileage! :anonymous: lol

It’s better than the 3.5 all day, and that’s even with the better gearing in my manual.

Yeah but it’s an extremely reliable and essy to work on gutless V6!

I’ve never had an issue with the 4.0, always had plenty of power for me. I drove a third gen Tacoma for a week and it wasn’t terrible either. You want to talk about under powered jump in a truck with the 2.7L!! (That’s probably why I don’t notice the lack of power in the 4.0 I drove a single cab with the 2.7 in it for 10 years lol)

As a valet, I get to drive one of my regulars fairly often. I think the 4R has a better get up and go then a taco, it feels like it takes a lot to get my Tacoma to move, where as the 4R seems to want to just pull away just letting off the brake. And this i gathered while my truck was still “stock”.

I couldn’t tell the difference between the 3.5 or the 4.0 either. I only clocked about 1200 miles on the 3.5 though mostly interstate miles. I’m sure in 15 years the 3.5L crowd will be crowing the same as the 4.0 crowd when Toyota puts a new power train in the Taco lol!

I don’t know why Toyota didnt use the newer 4.0 in the 4Runner and not the new Tacoma. Who cares about gas mileage these days!!
