Toyota is not responsible for the heat damage.

Find a dealer that will. It’s the dealer being the asshole. Many guys have gotten it replaced with the warranty. Either keep raising hell with that dealer or go to another one, or just write Toyota yourself

I had/have a great relationship with my Toyota dealer, they replaced the grill surround under warranty, no problems, within five minutes of seeing the issue, they immediately told me that they would replace it under warranty. I didn't have to say anything other than thank you.

My dealership was ok to replace it under warranty but cooperate declined it. I called cooperate directly with no luck. I'm sure all dealership has to go through cooperate for warranty replacment. The question is how is cooperate replacing some under warranty and some not!

Is there any chance the spring tension from the hood latch is putting stress on this part of of the surround? They always seem to deform"up". If this were caused by heat (melting the plastic) you'd expect it to droop. Most of the ones I've seen are just driver side of center and push up.

They did replace mine. I also had a 4runner that had the same issue and was replaced by the dealer.

I hope this never happens to me. I just had a $950 clear bra installed and I bet Toyota would refuse to cover and replace under warranty if I told them they'd have to add that part in as well!
