    That sucks, I was hoping after it got legalized this shit would stop, I'll cross my fingers in time production will get stream lined and costs low enough to make that fuckery pointless.

    Your those people have overtaking Alabama Hills and recently took over Coyote Flats. Cerro Gordo is just basically down the street from AH, it's a giving ..

    I think in some ways, good roads are a better idea because they keep people confined-look at Yosemite as an example. Sure, there are a lot of people there. But most stay within a mile or two of the road and that preserves wilderness. There are no off-highway roads (there are but they are gated) inside the park. Where it falls apart is larger areas like DV and Utah where lots of roads lead to places that just shouldn't be driven on.

    Abbey had some radical thoughts but he tried to keep wild places wild for generations-his ideas weren't wrong, just his methods.

    I think this statement says it all.

    I also think this attitude (or mental state) is part of what leads to the vandalism we see in the wilderness.
