Mass Air Intake. Replaced blown alternator and power fuses: 2 fuses.
Installed in 2nd Gen 2005 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner V-6 2-Wheel Drive: Toyota TRD Cold Air Intake is giving me easily 20 to 23 MPG; Better MPG & sounds better; takes off better from stops. Original CAI=Under 19 MPG. It's worth it !!!

Does the new intake allow for more airflow?
Does it suck in more air. Does anyone really know?

Is the new intake black and red, and made entirely of plastic, and the cover snap into place?
If so, its running your engine lean and that MAY attribute to any extra mpg.

Is it the older version with bolts on top and the lid and made out of aluminum?

The "trd", afe stage 2 si, volant (without scoop), and stock all pull air from the fenderwell. ALL intakes rely on the engine to "suck in air" thus no... no intake will "suck in more air"

Buy an ultragauge, or a scangauge 2..... use your stock intake setup and measure your intake temps at 40/45 mph.

See how close they are to ambient.
