I say before you buy, make sure you get them to the very lowest out the door price. Then, see what the closest dealership to them will do to get lower. If they won’t go any further then just get the best deal you can on the truck you want. Remember if they wanna sell it, they will work with you or you can always go elsewhere and find a little better deal. Shop around first!

the dealership I first went to, told me not to worry about calling USAA b/c they would just have to charge the dealership more. Then the dealership tried to give me 500 off the MSRP and thought they did something good, I walked. Good to know USAA really will save me money. I was looking at a deal similar to what you had. Thanks.

they wanted 41K, and it only had the sunroof package, not the leather seats and dual climate control.

I paid 32,500 but I didn’t get the tech package. I still think it was a great deal since most people are paying between 36-38K for the MT with tech.

    Seems like a fair deal.
Last month I purchased (in Pennsylvania) a quicksand TRD offroad, double cab, 6MT, tech package and some add ons for 33400 before the 1k rebate. The window sticker was 37, 200 i believe.
I considered this a great deal.
This included a public service discount offerered by the dealership though.

Yes, USAA has always been good and if you’re a Vet or LEO you should at least look into their insurance. They have great discounts everywhere on everything.

But 6 thousand below invoice, that's like they paid you to take the truck. Are you sure you didn't mean 6k below "sticker" or MSRP?

I wasn’t aware there was a difference honestly... I went back and looked MSRP was 42.8k and I paid 36.4k out the door. It was still about $2500 less than what I was negotiating prior to USAA getting involved.

Check nada dot com also for invoice pricing.
ya, invoice is what they want us to believe the dealership pays for the vehicle, and MSRP is what the manufacturer suggests to sell the vehicle for.

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?
All I will say is thier first offer without haggle requires a second counter with some haggle, and you’ll get a little more shaved off. Think about it like this, they are leaving room with the expectation (at rkmes) that there will be some buyer haggling or price shopping. Tell them to go lower, you set that lower price, not them, low ball or so they can come close, but ovvioisly less than that first haggle free offer!

Other dealers offer their bottom line, lowest they’ll go “take it or leave it” deal so they can spend time pushing inventory/volume quicker. Best way to find out is to haggle, if they don’t budge say “you’ll need time to think about it”.At that point they already known you’re going to price shop them, so some dealers will then budge right away with a final offer, others will say “if you leave this deal on the tablenit will no longer be available when you come crawling back”. At which point I respond with “is that a threat?” Then walk out.!
