115 here today....at least our AC in the building is finally working unlike our last heat wave. I've got my gym clothes ready to put on though if I have to....dress code be damned, not like I really have one anyway

I forgot about the V necks and pink shorts. There's literally a guy in my IT that dresses exactly like that.

I wear beer T-shirts and shorts almost every day.

If I have a meeting with the our Center Director, I tighten the straps on my chacos.

A beekeeper once gave me an interesting tip. If you feel sweat running down you, that's normal, if you feel it running up you that's a bug... Or possibly weld slag

I save my printed tees for working on the truck. I'm single so I have to dress nice until some unlucky gal takes the bait :/

If you want a 4x4 1st gen, that's a hard target to hit. People are known to spend 10k for one with 200k miles. They're worth every penny. For that price range, you're very likely going to need to do some work on it.

I usually wear ratty ones but I decided when doing my rear diff fluid last weekend I'd keep my favorite work t-shirt on since I didn't expect it to take more than 10 minutes.

Had to cut the top of the 75w90 quart bottle with my knife so that the pump would fit over it....moved it too abruptly and flung stanky ass gear oil all over myself, probably 1/3 the bottle. At least it was new gear oil. I kind of like the smell myself but my fiance literally starts to throw up when she smells it.

I hooked mine in college, so I've actually NEVER had to "dress up" to impress the ladies. Not that any amount of polishing will put a shine on this turd... I used the fact that I could buy her alcohol...

I own exactly on suit that I wore to my sister-in-law's wedding like 10 years ago.

Yeah luckily I'm in the LA county suburbs so it's a little better than minimalist but not a whole lot. I rely on the ~$10-15k in odd freelance jobs to support my truck habit lol.

I was a little bit of everything in high school, it was a fun time. I was the resident IT guy, to the car guy, to the theatre kid, to eventually the president of my class when we graduated.

People usually call me to fix their phone or their MacBook or look at their car. I used to charge $20 to tighten the school issues MacBook Pro hinges. Made good money off that.

Since they’d need it for their next class, I’d hussle to tighten the hinges during the class they give it to me in. If you’ve ever tightened MacBook Pro hinges before, you’ll know it requires removing a majority of the logic board components, the screen, many fragile ribbon cables, microscopic screws smaller than a grain of rice, etc. It was about a 7.5/10 on the difficulty scale.

I had one hour and thirty minutes to do this during class before the bell rang for the next period, and have it back up and running for their next class. I never paid attention in my AP Computer Science class since I already knew the material, so I always did my repairs then. I remember the first time I did it I set my timer, unraveled my tool roll, clipped my anti static ESD wristband to the whiteboard aluminum next to me, and started tearing down the laptop.

The point where I had circuit boards, wires, components, and the bare motherboard laying in front of me - my teacher saw me while lecturing, stopped talking, walked over to me, stared at me in confusion for a good five seconds, shook his head and walked away. Was hilarious. He’s a very laid back teacher, and I was doing good in his class so it wasn’t a big deal.

At least I was being productive. 90% of the kids in that class was playing Call of Duty.

I also did RAM upgrades, and SSD conversions. I was way more competent than the shitty IT firm the school hired out after the head of IT quit. They had no idea what they were doing. For example: my friends MacBook booted to a flashing question mark and a hard drive icon, which means no hard drive detected. I know this was the hard drive ribbon cable, which is a very common issue on these computers. The in house IT firm said, in a nutshell, “your computer is fucked we have to wipe your drive and reimage a new disk, you’ll lose all your data”.

That’s bullshit. I changed her hard drive ribbon cable, and surprise surprise it worked again. She got to keep all her data.

yeah some people don't mind it while others get incredibly nauseated by even thinking of it. My fiancé and I are on opposite ends of that spectrum. I used the bathroom hand/face towel to wipe off after I scrubbed the oil off my skin...which apparently still transferred to the towel. A couple hours later I'm in the living room and I hear her start retching in the bathroom...I knew right away what had happened haha.
