    Looking at a used smittybilt 2 person rtt this eve. Other than the obvious... Anything specific to look out for?

    If I was looking at a used tent, signs of mold would be the biggest red flag for me.

    Make sure it opens and unfolds flat (no car accident damage/deformation). Check the hinges on the tent and the ladder to make sure they're in good working order. Check the bolts that mount to the tent's bottom rails, make sure there's no damage or stress around them.

    edit: the zipper for the cover gets a lot of abuse, too. Make sure it works good.

    edit2: I own a Tepui, but the designs are pretty universal.

    I was rear-ended pretty badly with my tent on the bed rack and it wasn't harmed. There ain't much to these tents. A top, a bottom, a couple of hinges, a ladder. If the angles are square and it lays flat, and there's no damage to the mounting points, I would assume you're fine.
