I got the welder on the way home today and it did ok. It did act up once. It welded like the gas wasn’t on. Then it started working fine after. Whatever, I just need it to get me through the cage welding.

Anyways I finished welding the roof and welded on the corner gussets for the a pillar. I also put the fatmat on the back and roof. People say you don’t have to do the roof but when you cut the supports off the roof it really rattles. That’s why I put some there. It helped a lot. I just might put some Mass loaded vinyl put there to help. We’ll see.... more cheap pics.

My headliner was pretty bad so I went to Joann’s and picked up some vinyl. I originally wanted to go with a dark grey but they didn’t have any so I settled for the black and I’m ok with it. I’m painting the roof of the cage and as I’m waiting for it to dry I used 3m spray adhesive 90 to glue the vinyl to the headliner. I’m going to slide the headliner between the cage and the roof and lift the cage up into place. I did cut the edges of the headliner where the tube is so it’s not in the way. I’ll trim the vinyl to fit once I start adding the other interior parts.

The build is taking a turn for now and I’m focusing on fixing up the interior of the cab.

@cynicalrider Thanks for the link bud! It’s actually pretty thick and durable. I’ll still have to get some weather tech mats because I wear boots. But I’m super happy with it.

New vinyl flooring to replace my old carpet.

Now the question is do I lay it under the tube that’s going across the floor or over it. Thinking over the tube :notsure:

I'd say keep it tight and under the tube if possible

Can't wait to see how this comes out.want something like this.my girl doesn't want it. Likes it without it since it's a desert truck but would make the interior come together I think. And go under the tube if possible. Look cleaner

Under the tube as well. Getting it to flatten out according to the mold is tough, the tube might help tighten that up. Throw down mass loaded vinyl under it too for sound proofing.

    10-4!

    Thanks man!

I'll post a lot of pics so you can check it out. It feels pretty durable. I was surprised when I saw it. But it does seem it's going to take some work to fit it good.

Under the tube it is then. I'll lay everything in. tack the floor tube in place. Pull the vinyl, weld it and put everything back. Yup I'm plaing on using MLV on the floor and doors of the truck with the fatmat I have.

Picked up some more parts. Still need to get a headunit and sub. Maybe another set of speakers but I don’t think I’m going to need it.

Ok I finished painting the roof and installed the headliner liner. Bolted in the factory crossmember. Everything fits nice and tight. I had to hammer the back of the cage where the bed cage tie in is to push the cage forward. The bad thing is that I wasn’t able to pull the headliner all the way back and it created a crease in the rear of the headliner. It’s so tight I can’t move it. So I’m going to have to live with it. That roof isn’t going anywhere. Tomorrow after work I’m going to put together the dash to make sure everything lines up before I start welding in any other part of the cage. Once I know everything fits like it’s supposed to I’ll tac in the a pillar and start the b and c pillars of the cage. Yup pic time.

Even though the headliner is pushed forward I'm going to roll the vinyl over it to work as a small visor. It's not bad at all. It's not perfect....
