Hello everyone... I’ve been lurking for around a month now and learning a whole lot, which is typical for these vehicle specific forums. I didn’t quite realize there was as serious and devoted a following for Tacomas as for Wranglers.
Back in January we sold our Wrangler to get rid of a third vehicle and help with a house down payment.
On June 6, my wife took our Civic and went to several local dealerships (and had done well over a month of research without my knowledge) and traded it in on an ‘18 DCLB in Quicksand. We had talked about it and I had told her it was my dream truck. I’ve wanted a Tacoma/Toyota pickup for decades and I bet Back to the Future is mostly to blame. Anyway, this was her “thanks for getting me through school” gift for me and I was speechless... she just rolled up in it and met me for dinner that night, then told me I had to go dig out the title to the Civic.
I love this truck so far. I’m not planning anything crazy with it, as it is now our second vehicle and my DD. The only thing done so far is Husky Liners and I dipped the chrome trim around the grille. Oh yeah, and my hitchhiker: the Taco Tuesday Guy from the Lego Movie watching traffic from my dash.
The only thing I can really compare it to is my JK Wrangler. Apples and oranges I guess, but the Taco is so much better as a DD and on the road, with a little sacrifice off road.
