im a newbie when it comes to lift installations, so I’m not gonna sound like I know a whole lot lol and pardon my ignorance. If I am considering a 6” lift with lifted struts instead of just adding blocks on OEM ones, am I going to have to get larger wheels? I’m also thinking about adding 1.5” hub centric spacers. I have R17’s.. but the stock wheels are R15’s I believe. I’m only asking because they’re powder coated and I’d hate to see them go bye bye lol. I’ve seen a few people with 17” wheels with 6” lifts just fine.. The recommended wheel and tire size for my lift is listed at 33x12.5 R-17 but just wondering on here to be sure. I just got new tires and they sit an inch taller above the ones that My truck Had prior but still had the 17” wheels. Thanks!

First of all,if you want a 6 inch lift you will need a drop bracket lift. Secondly wheel size may vary from lift to lift. I have a R/C 4 inch D/B lift which I have 17 inch wheels and a Zone 4 inch lift requires 18 inch wheels. If I was gonna put a 6 inch lift on my truck I would put 35 inch tires on it.

17's can fit but they always suggest 18's to clear the new knuckle. Spacers would probably help but I've never tried it on a 6" lift.

The new TRD Sport 17's are actually smaller in the drum and contact easier than prior gens, so it depends on wheels and other factors.

I was looking at the R/C 6” lift kit with the N3 struts added, instead of using the strut spacers. But I’ve also read a lot about lifts for R/C and some people are saying 4” is a max and 6” is pushing it when it comes to Tacomas

It says on the recommended specs “33x12.5 R17”.. and my current tire and wheel setup is 31.6x10.4 R17” and I’m just wondering now if the tire thickness and width would be enough

4 and 6 inch lifts are ok as long as you do a drop bracket...otherwise 3 inches is pretty much the limit without jacking up your angles. The D/B will keep your angles true, however the D/B is probably not the way to go if you’re gonna do a lot of serious off-roading.

Thank you for the information. You said you have a R/C lift kit, right? Are the struts made of steel or aluminum? Just wondering because I’ve seen them rust sometimes on other people’s vehicles and I’m curious if they’ve switched their design
